The 2026 C-Lock Symposium launches our inaugural gathering of leading minds in livestock sustainability—from university researchers and genetics experts to industry innovators advancing emissions measurement. Attendance is free and invitation-only, creating a focused environment for collaboration among those most familiar with GreenFeed systems and sustainability within the beef industry.
This first-ever symposium features many of the field’s most influential voices, alongside C-Lock’s own scientific and technical experts—individuals whose work has helped define today’s best practices for measuring greenhouse gas emissions in beef cattle.
This symposium will focus on advancing the science and standardization of greenhouse gas measurement in beef cattle. Through presentations, working sessions, and open discussion, participants will explore how GreenFeed technology and coordinated research can improve our understanding of emissions phenotypes, data consistency, and the genetic and environmental factors shaping sustainability outcomes.
Key topics include:
Day 1 and 2: Collaboration between invitees, speakers, and C-Lock staff on how we can share research insight and move closer to standardizing GreenFeed trial and research practices for increased compatibility.
Day 3: Optional tour of the Colorado State Ag next Facility. This facility is running both GreenFeed and SmartLine products under the direction of Sara Place, who will be giving the tour.
Join us for two days of in-depth discussions and presentations focused on advancing emissions measurement, data collaboration, and sustainable beef production strategies.

Take part in an exclusive research facility tour at AgNext, where innovation meets science to drive the future of sustainable livestock management.
As GreenFeed technology continues to expand across research programs and production systems worldwide, one key challenge has emerged — there is currently no unified standard for how GreenFeed trials are conducted or how resulting data are analyzed and compared.
While C-Lock has provided guidance to clients and collaborators, study designs and methodologies still vary widely between institutions. Differences in test length, number of visits, animal management, and analytical approaches make it difficult to align results or draw meaningful comparisons across studies.
The 2026 C-Lock Symposium was created to bring together the leaders actively using GreenFeed to address this gap. By creating a space for open discussion, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, the symposium aims to establish a shared understanding of what matters most when designing and interpreting emissions studies.
This includes:
Ultimately, this event is about building alignment across the C-Lock network and beyond — ensuring every GreenFeed study, regardless of location or institution, contributes meaningfully to the global effort toward improving sustainability and efficiency in beef cattle production.
Through coordinated collaboration, we can move from individual research projects to an integrated body of knowledge that advances genetic selection and climate-smart practices across the livestock industry.
The C-Lock Symposium will unite top university and industry experts who utilize GreenFeed systems to measure greenhouse gas emissions in beef cattle. This collaborative event aims to showcase cutting-edge research within the C-Lock network, fostering open discussion, data sharing, and cross-institutional partnerships. By connecting researchers and aligning methodologies, the symposium seeks to accelerate progress in understanding the genetic and environmental drivers of emissions and enhance strategies for sustainable, low-carbon beef production.
